Leeds United are preparing to announce two new signings with the hope of landing a very late third on deadline day.

With the window set to slam shut at 11pm tonight, Leeds are still very much active in the market as they work to land all of Daniel Farke’s targets.

For well over a month now, Leeds have been keen on strengthening at full-back and in central midfield, but have left it until the very last minute in order to do so.

Despite adding two new attackers, Leeds also remain on the lookout for a third with a replacement for Georginio Rutter still not having been found.

If they are able to add three signings before the close of play then it would be right to say it has been a positive window, despite the sales.

Leeds set to announce Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt, third wanted

Yorkshire Evening Post writer Graham Smyth provided a round-up of the latest news at Elland Road heading into deadline day late last night.

He reported the first of the announcements is expected to arrive at any moment given Ao Tanaka landed at Leeds Bradford Airport almost 24 hours ago, with a deal all but done.

Isaac Schmidt is then likely to be second despite the fact he played and scored in FC St Gallen’s Europa Conference League penalty shootout win over Trabzonspor last night.

Smyth claims Schmidt is due to fly into England as early as this morning to complete the formalities of his deal, which would round-off an incredibly busy 48 hours for him.

Tanaka and Schmidt appear to be the two guarantees of Leeds’ deadline day but there is still hope for another, according to Smyth.

He left the door open for Leeds to round-off the window on a ‘real high note’ and while not mentioning names, hopefully it is one of Gustavo Hamer or Roland Sallai.
