Newcastle United linked with £15m winger transfer as Eddie Howe makes ‘very careful’ admission

Newcastle United midfielder Jamie Miley has agreed a loan move to Newport County, sources have told Football Insider.

Miley, 20, impressed on Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Japan with the first team, and his performances have alerted a number of EFL clubs.

Newport have moved quickly to agree a deal with Miley with Newcastle keen to see the midfielder gain valuable first-team experience.

The midfielder has yet to make a competitive senior appearance in his career, but Newport are clearly willing to take a risk on the youngster.

Jamie Miley set to swap Newcastle United for Newport County

Miley, the brother of fellow Newcastle United teenager Lewis who has been heavily involved in the first team, was handed an opportunity to impress by manager Eddie Howe in pre-season.

He made his first senior start in the 2-0 victory over Hull City on July 27 and later made his St James’ Park debut in a 4-0 win against Girona on August 9.

However, he isn’t considered part of Howe’s first-team plans for the upcoming season, and Newcastle are eager to send him out on loan.

Welsh side Newport County currently sit fifth in League Two, winning their last two games against Doncaster Rovers and Accrington Stanley 3-1.
