- Rangers suffer shock twist as Nedim Bajrami deal rejected with 48 hours left until deadline
Rangers have suffered a shock transfer twist as their bid to sign Nedim Bajrami has been rejected by Sassuolo, according to Antonio Parrotto.
The Tutto Mercato journalist reported via X on Wednesday (28 August) that the Light Blues’ offer to secure the attacking midfielder on an initial loan, with an option to buy has been rejected by the Italian club.
Sassuolo do not want to sell Bajrami this summer and have therefore turned down Philippe Clement’s side’s approach with around just 48 hours to go until the summer transfer window slams shut in Glasgow.
The Light Blues were reportedly in advanced talks to sign the Albanian international this summer as Clement looks to bolster his attacking options [Rangers Review, 28 August].
Will Nedim Bajrami exit Sassuolo amid Rangers transfer rumours?
Just when it seemed as though Rangers’ summer transfer window had finally come to life, the Light Blues appear to have hit another roadblock as their move to Bajrami hangs in the balance ahead of the transfer deadline.
Because the Gers have left a lot of their transfer business until the last minute, they are always going to find it hard to tempt clubs into cashing in on their biggest stars as they will need replacing in the coming days.
Sassuolo are going to be even more reluctant to accept the Light Blues’ loan-to-buy proposal because of the fact they won’t get the majority of the money upfront.
It will be interesting to see if the Gers return with a new offer once one or two more departures are confirmed at Ibrox.
