SO SAD:Mark Pope confirmed the suspension of two key players few minutes ago…

This offseason has been a wild one for the Kentucky Wildcats as we have now entered a new era of the UK Basketball program. Exit John Calipari and enter Mark Pope.

Alongside moving to Lexington, Coach Pope then had to create a whole new roster and find a new coaching staff to join him in his inaugural season in Lexington.

All of this has brought with it the following question: What should be the expectation for the Cats this coming season?

Well, there is no one better to answer that question than former UK great Goose Givens.

Givens recently talked with Jack Pilgrim of KSR and is excited for the hire of Coach Pope. He also discussed what the BBN can expect in his first season in Lexington.

“About as well as can be expected. I mean, this would have been a great year to have been able to take a trip somewhere and get the guys away from here, but the guys have been able to play together and figure things out together against other teams. The one time they did that La Familia they looked really good. They played well, they were impressive against a team of pro players, guys who had been there and done that,” said Givens. “They looked really, really good. So I think they’re going to get much better as they learn each other and figure each other out. They have plenty of time to get there.”

I’m sure plenty of fans are still going to take a wait-and-see approach, but this is an encouraging update from a guy who is as close to the program as any.

Only a little over a month until we see the Cats take the court for Big Blue Madness. Let the fun begin.
