DEAL CONFIRMED;Jack Butland announces his resignation letter few minutes ago

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has reacted via social media after Ben Davies’ loan move to Birmingham City was confirmed.

The League One club announced the new loan signing via their official Instagram account [25 August], with the 29-year-old arriving at St Andrew’s Stadium on a season-long loan.

Despite starting the Gers’ opening match of the Scottish Premiership campaign against Hearts, the centre-back has been snubbed from the starting XI by Philippe Clement since.

Following the announcement on Sunday (25 August), former Birmingham keeper Butland was spotted liking the Blues’ Instagram post.

Ben Davies shipped out on loan as Rangers exit confirmed

While Butland has experienced his fair share of exit links at Ibrox, there is no chance that the shot-stopper leaves Clement high and dry with just four days of the transfer window remaining.

The 31-year-old was arguably the most important player for the Belgian last season, keeping countless clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership and Europe, leading by example in between the sticks.

Davies, on the other hand, looks to be surplus to requirement following a number of new faces coming through the doors at Ibrox – or even Hampden Park, although not for much longer.

Clement now has Leon Balogun, Robin Propper and John Souttar at his disposal, with Clinton Nsiala currently playing his football in the Rangers B team as he continues to develop.

This could suggest that the Gers are expecting to bring in one more defensive signing before the transfer window slams shut, though Troyes’ Jackson Porozo is unlikely to be that man [Football Scotland].

Davies has struggled during his time in Scotland, making only four Scottish Premiership appearances last term, which looks to have sealed his move to the blue side of Birmingham.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement could reassess the exit for a 34k-a-week ace after what he did for the Gers recently.
