Breaking News:Todd Cantwell Rangers transfer exit chance emerges as Blackburn show interest
Blakburn Rovers are showing an interest in wantaway Rangers man Todd Cantwell.
The attacking midfielder handed in a transfer request some weeks ago and hasn’t featured for the first-team so far this season, training instead with the B side. With the Ibrox side needing to offload some players before they can get any more new ones in, they have been looking to find a buyer for the Englishman.
There hasn’t appeared to be too many options, however. Trabzonspor were thought to be keen on taking him to Turkey to team up again with former teammates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram but the trail seemed to go cold on that one. There has always been mention of English Championship interest without specific clubs named.
But now, Blackburn seems to be a concrete option. The Sun is reporting that Rovers boss John Eustace is keen on taking the 27-year-old back down south.
The Riversiders have previously been linked with Rangers teammate Rabbi Matondo but the winger has found himself in the team and firing recently, with two goals and two assists during the 6-0 rout over Ross County at the weekend.
Cantwell has had a tumultuous time at Ibrox, initially having an impact in the team and becoming a favourite with fans. But as team and individual form dwindled he began to irk the support with his social media activity, even seeming to take digs at them at times.
