So so bad;Celtic announced the replacement of their head coach due to..

Celtic arrive this weekend against Rangers hoping to keep their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership and Callum McGregor is fully ready for what lies ahead.

The Bhoys have claimed maximum points in their first three league matches and are still yet to concede under Brendan Rodgers.

Encouragingly, they could also have some new faces in situ for the clash. Alex Valle is on the brink of arriving from Barcelona on loan to strengthen the left-back position.

In turn, formal offers have also been submitted for Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels and LAFC star Mateutz Bogusz, with Matt O’Riley now no longer a Celtic player.

Even if some new arrivals were to be in the building by the deadline, it may be left up to the existing core at the club to take the fight to Rangers.

McGregor has the best track record of coming out on the right side of events in the squad against our city rivals and he has sent a message ahead of the first Glasgow Derby of this term.

Callum McGregor’s bullish Glasgow Derby message

Speaking to The Daily Mail, McGregor has highlighted that talk is ‘cheap’ in light of Philippe Clement’s comments that Rangers will try to take the game to Celtic this Sunday.

He explained: “No. It’s just talk, isn’t it — and talk is cheap. Everyone knows how big the games are and when they come around you probably don’t need any added motivation for it.

“We have a structure and a system and the way that we want to train, first and foremost. We try and get the most out of the players as possible. And if that becomes a daily habit, then when you arrive in the big moments, it should be second nature for you.

“You have to have a little bit of emotion and emotion is good in football a lot of the time. But here’s the structure, if we do this a lot of the time, then, you know, the probability is you’ll have a good day.”

Later, he added that Celtic are taking nothing for granted: “I think when you come to these games, especially at home, you have to try and maximize it as much as you can. And first and foremost, that means three points.

“If you can match it with a strong performance, then of course, that would be the ideal world for everyone, but we know it’s never as easy as that. Rangers are a good side, obviously a really good result on Saturday, so we know it will be tough game. We have to give everything that we’ve got in the tank for the game, and hopefully we can have a positive afternoon.”

Celtic know what is at stake against Rangers

You don’t need me to tell you what is at stake against Rangers, but I will anyway just incase you forgot. Three points, bragging rights and crucially, the chance to move five points above our rivals at an early stage in the campaign.

Building a gap provides a major psychological boost in the hunt for the Scottish Premiership title. Often, the early building blocks can prove to be the most important in determining future success.

The Bhoys have been over the course and plenty in the dressing room have experience of coming out on the winning side, Hopefully, that can be the case again this weekend. Hail Hail!
