SO SAD;Striker Rejects Move To Nottingham Forest

Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has rejected an offer to move to Nottingham Forest ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Forest’s search for a new striker has been taking fresh twists and turns over the last week or so.

They had a deal in place to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal but the forward decided against moving to the City Ground.

It emerged earlier today that Nottingham Forest reached an agreement over a fee worth €35m with Feyenoord for the proposed transfer of Gimenez.

However, according to ESPN Netherlands, the Mexican striker has rejected the chance to join the Premier League side this summer.

The forward has not warmed up to the idea of playing for Nottingham Forest and will not be turning up at the City Ground in the coming days.

Gimenez has not ruled out staying at Feyenoord this season if he does not get a suitable move in the coming days.

Forest will have to turn to a new target and try to get a deal done in the dying embers of the transfer window.

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal for Santiago Gimenez and they are ready to hand the Feyenoord striker a huge wage.

Nottingham Forest have been in the market for a new centre-forward this summer and they are set to get a deal over the line with just five days of the transfer window remaining.

Forest submitted a bid for Santiago Gimenez earlier this summer with Feyenoord holding out for a club-record fee of around £30million.

They had also identified Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah as a target but Forest’s move for Nketiah collapsed and Santiago Gimenez is now their top target.

Crystal Palace have now moved for Nketiah while West Ham are also considering a move for the Gunners forward.
