Breaking News:Rangers need Dessers to keep scoring’ – analysis

Rangers boss Philippe Clement isn’t the only manager pulling what little hair he has left out come the end of the transfer window.

 

Almeria coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia – simply known as Rubi to you and I – has been talking this week about the challenges of the transfer window’s final furlong.

With sizeable uncertainty, agents playing games, positions still to be filled and movement still to be made, it’s a time of year where the nerves of everyone in football start to jolt.

 

Rangers manager Clement expects the Ibrox side to be ‘busy’ and he’s not the only one.

 

Rangers have been linked to Almeria defender Kaiky Fernandes with one bid already thrown out and another potentially in the post.

Following the permanent exit of Ben Davies, Clement has been clear a centre-back will be signed as a replacement.

 

After Almeria’s weekend win over Tenerife, Rubi has been talking about the state of play and it appears there is as much uncertainty in Liga Segunda as there is in the Scottish Premiership.

Almeria manager nervous amid Rangers links

Philippe Clement has cut a composed figure heading into the final days of the transfer window.

 

Despite Rangers’ failure to qualify for the Champion League hamstringing the side a little, Clement has been open about the need for new additions.

 

We understand Rangers are targeting as many as four new signings with Almeria defender Kaiky very much on the club’s radar.

 

It’s a situation which has Almeria gaffer Rubi rather nervous, with the Spaniard describing the end of the window as ‘the worst moments for a coach’.

“It’s what we always know,” Rubi told Diario de Almeria. “Everyone runs when the final date approaches.

 

“These are the worst moments for a coach in a club. It is no longer that you can lose a player or not, that is normal, but that the footballer’s head changes every day.

 

“We know there are eight days left. We are going to have a great team at the end of the market.”

 

Rangers’ move for Kaiky certainly made headlines across Scotland and Spain but with Almeria throwing the bid out, it’s hard to know where all three parties stand.

Rubi has given an inclination into the uncertainty in his squad as several players are linked with high-profile moves and suggests the speculation is ‘affecting’ his team.

 

“There are a few footballers who are training as well as possible and giving their best,” Rubi said. “But in the end they are with whether representatives, this, or not another… In the end, it affects.

 

“I hope that tomorrow there will be few footballers in that condition. We are a healthy group, but at some point they are confused because it is a complicated time.”

 

Almeria open to defender sale as Rangers bid for Kaiky

Almeria have already been rocked by the sale of one influential player this transfer window.

Leeds United have announced the signing of versatile forward Largie Ramazani on a £10m deal to put the frighteners up Rubi and his team.

 

As Rangers continue to probe Almeria over Kaiky, Rubi has been pointing to the exit of Ramazani and claims the second tier Spanish side are on the hunt for a replacement.

 

“We intend to bring in a winger,” said Rubi, following the sale of Ramazani. “The club has a list of players that may interest us and coordinates with the coaching staff.

 

“However, what also happens is that now players appear who were not part of the initial plans.”

Finally, the Almeria manager has also been speaking about the challenges the club faces at centre-back.

 

Kaiky Fernandes joined Almeria from Santos in a deal worth £6m back in 2022 but the 6ft2 unit hasn’t always had things his own way in Spain.

 

Spending the second half of last season on loan at Liga Segunda Alcabete, Kaiky was handed a start in Almeria’s 1-0 win over Tenerife amid the Rangers speculation.
