The 26-year-old is a left sided defender which covers two problem positions at Celtic where Greg Taylor and Liam Scales have virtually no competition or cover.

Taylor and Scales have both played every minute of Celtic’s three competitive matches this season but that will surely change with the Champions League just four weeks away, starting a long run of midweek matches to test and stretch Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

This morning The Sun reports:

SunSport can reveal that Celtic are interested in signing Auston Trusty from Sheffield United.

The 26-year old moved to the Blades from Arsenal last summer in a £5million deal.

He went on to appear 32 times in the Premier League as United were relegated back to the Championship.

Trusty played both at centre-back and left-back during the season.

Having moved from Arsenal to Sheffield United Trusty will have an expectation to be played at EPL rates which would be an obvious problem for Celtic to match.

So far, 13 weeks after the final of the Scottish Cup Celtic have yet to add any outfield players to their squad despite announcing to the Stock Market that turnover and profits for last season are above expectations.

Sunday’s match at St Mirren is the last match before the Transfer Window closes with Brendan Rodgers likely to be bombarded by transfer related questions before and after that match.

Trusty is under contract with Sheffield United until 2027, CLICK HERE for his Transfermarkt profile.

Never heard of Auston Trusty. Feels like the bottom of the barrel is being scraped by the Celtic Board again. Either that or desperation is setting in.

This getting linked with potential players is at ridiculous stages now?

About time some actual decisions are made and getting the work done to get deals finalised?

Very questionable process ongoing at present, without to many signs of getting resolved, especially when links to players instead of talks remains in operation?

Are players actually getting identified or see who becomes available the current situation we find ourselves in, before a finalised 25man squad is even achieved?
