Breaking News:Rangers open talks to sign £34,000-a-week forward compared to Malik Tillman

Rangers are attempting to sign a new attacker before the transfer window shuts on Friday 30th August.

Philippe Clement is lacking quality depth in his frontline behind the likes of Jefte, Ross McCausland, Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers as the Gers aim to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title back from Celtic.

Now – however – first contacts have been made to bring a new forward to Rangers…

Rangers make move to sign Josip Brekalo

A story from Viola News in Italy now states that Rangers have made contact to sign Josip Brekalo.

The Italian news outlet believe negotiations between the Bears and the Serie A side are currently at an early stage, with Fiorentina open to selling the Croatia international as they aim to trim the squad.

Viola News do not state how much Fiorentina are demanding to sell Brekalo – who was a target for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa – although having already entered the final 24 months of his contract, this summer represents a good time to cash in.

Brekalo does earn £34,000-a-week in Florence, however, which is higher than James Tavernier’s £30,000-a-week salary, so that will surely have to be negotiated down, unless Rangers and Fiorentina discuss an initial loan deal where the Serie A side pay a portion of his wages.

The man from Zagreb – who Football Transfers state is similar to Malik Tillman – made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals while also providing eight assists.

Philippe Clement could sign a top talent

Brekalo is a highly talented footballer who simply needs somewhere to settle.

The Croatian even showed enough promise as a teenager to lure VfL Wolfsburg into spending £8.5m on his signature in a deal from Dinamo Zagreb – emphasising how much of a wonderkid he really was.

Brekalo has since struggled to find his feet at spells with VfB Stuttgart, Torino and Hajduk Split, although Ibrox could offer the forward a chance to finally show his best after years of moving around.
