Breaking News:Celtic and Rangers transfer priorities laid out on Monday Jury as Kilmarnock
There’s two weeks left of the transfer window, what will be left on Brendan Rodgers’ shopping list?
ANDY NEWPORT: A new centre-back is a necessity. Liam Scales has performed admirably but if Celtic are to make a dent on the Champions League they need someone to match Cameron Carter-Vickers’ levels. Another left-back and winger would be handy but that could be overtaken if Matt O’Riley leaves.
SCOTT BURNS: A left back, left-sided centre half, striker and winger all remain on the Celtic wanted list.
GAVIN BERRY: Quite a lot, actually. A left back, as good as Greg Taylor has been and continues to be, is probably a priority along with a winger and midfielder.
And what does Philippe Clement need to bring in at Rangers before the deadline?
ANDY: Jeez, how long have you got? Rangers need upgrades in every position bar goalkeeper but if I was Philippe Clement, I’d be prioritising a creative midfielder and a left winger. If there’s funds for another striker then I’m sure he’d take that too.
SCOTT: He needs a fair bit. It looks like Rangers need a bit more quality in the middle of the park. That has to be the priority.
GAVIN: Where do you start? There’s so much needed to upgrade the squad to make it competitive. It’s less about specific positions to be filled and more about overall quality and experience so you could pick just about any position, aside from Jack Butland perhaps and even he’s had question marks over him recently.
Steven Naismith reckons Hearts’ shock Premier Sports Cup exit to Falkirk is proof his side don’t have enough strength in depth – should that worry Jambos ahead of their Europa League campaign?
ANDY: It’s going to be a tall order making the league section in any case but Hearts really could do with finding someone else to share the goalscoring burden with Lawrence Shankland. If anything happens to the skipper they are in trouble.
