Philippe Clement thinks this player will leave Rangers for ‘much bigger’ price

Philippe Clement said that his Rangers team was going to look different at the end of the transfer window and almost by default his words have come true.

The manager has a few injuries to contend with in his squad and also has nearly two weeks left to bring new additions in, even if players have to be moved out first.

After a shaky pre-season, Jefte is starting to look like a shrewd acquisition with his powerful running, pace and desire to get his team into the final third.

Philippe Clement praises Jefte in Rangers win

Clement is also clearly impressed as his comments after Rangers 2-0 win over St Johnstone prove.

Speaking after the game, the Gers boss wasn’t just happy with Jefte:

“Jefte played a very good and dominant game. Big congratulations to our recruitment team for finding a player of that level at that age for that price. In two months, I think his value will be much bigger than for the amount that we bought him.”

Rangers paid a reported £800,000 for Jefte which is beginning to make the £3.5m paid up front for Ridvan Yilmaz look excessive.

The 20-year old Brazilian looked shell shocked marking Amad Diallo at Murrayfield, however, he has settled quickly and is fast becoming a fans’ favourite.

The contrast between Jefte and the now departed Borna Barisic couldn’t be more extreme.

Barisic, when faced with an opponent, would turn back and pass to a deep lying midfielder or centre-half.

Jefte on the other hand, pins his ears back and drives into space, looks to link with his winger and get into the box.

Even when the ball is on the other side of the park he looks to get high and into dangerous positions.

Jefte is why Clement needs his own players
