Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall has signed a new two-year contract with the club that will see him remain at Trentside until the summer of 2026.

The 26-year-old had entered the final 12 months of his previous deal, but Forest have moved to secure his services for at least the next three years.

The new deal will see Worrall remain at his boyhood club, having progressed through the youth ranks at Forest since joining in the summer of 2015.

Worrall spent time away from Forest during his early days at City Ground, embarking on loan spells with Dag & Red and Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

He got his first-team breakthrough at Forest in 2017 and has established himself as an important player for the Tricky Trees, totalling 220 appearances while chipping in with five goals and six assists.

The centre-back has featured in all of Forest’s opening four Premier League games this season and was immense in the most recent 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Worrall captained his side to victory in West London with an astute performance, registering seven clearances, three blocked shots, two tackles, and won two of his four ground duels.

Although he was dribbled past twice and lost the ball four times, the English centre-half played his part in ensuring Steve Cooper’s side departed the capital with a clean sheet.

Worrall, who has represented England at youth level in the past, has now committed his future to the Tricky Trees once more, having previously signed a long-term deal three years ago.
