Breaking News:I am going for good: Celtic players will be joining one of the best club in England

With Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah back in the building, alongside this summer’s new goalkeeper arrivals, Celtic can now get on with the business of improving last season’s squad.

Brendan Rodgers has made it a stated aim to come out of the transfer window with stronger options compared to last term.

So far, that hasn’t transpired but there remains hope that the Bhoys can pull off two or three deals in the final two weeks of the window that have supporters feeling satisfied.

One position undoubtedly needing care is left-back. Only Greg Taylor is currently available on the left flank with no proven backup, and the club needs another option.

Owen Wijndal of Ajax has been linked in recent days and it was reported on Sunday that the club are still working on another of their long-term targets.

Celtic are still in for Owen Beck

The Sunday Mail reports that Owen Beck is still a ‘live’ consideration for the Bhoys after their attempts to sign him in January.

Celtic’s summer interest in the player was first reported at the start of August, but the player’s situation has gone rather quiet with Liverpool yet to make a firm decision on where he’ll be playing football next term.

Rodgers remains interested and Beck is said to still be one of the ‘main names’ on Celtic’s priority list, despite competition from English sides Middlesbrough and Leeds.

Beck only makes sense as a permanent deal

The report states that a loan move for the player is still possible despite Liverpool being open to a permanent transfer, but it wouldn’t serve Celtic well if he’s brought in on a temporary basis.

The Bhoys are no longer at the stage of developing other clubs’ talents, so if it’s not an outright transfer deal then a loan-to-buy negotiation is a minimum.

If Liverpool aren’t willing to do business on those terms then Celtic should look elsewhere for a left-back they can develop and improve over time as their own asset.
