SHOCKING NEWS;Rangers best goalkeeper Jack Butland just signed a four-year contract with Celtic
Rangers should be doing everything they can to keep goalkeeper Jack Butland at the club due to the amount of experience they’ve already lost.
That’s the opinion of ex-Rangers defender Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Hutton believes that Butland is now one of the ‘main guys’ with what he offers on and off the pitch.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper has recently come out and said that discussions with the Rangers board have left him with “no concerns” over the club’s ambitions.
Butland himself was quoted in February saying he and the Glasgow club rebuffed a January approach from Nottingham Forest and he now looks set to stay at the Ibrox through the summer transfer window too.
Jack Butland brings much-needed experience to Rangers
The shot-stopper has revived his career while at Rangers having made 62 appearances across all competitions since his move from Crystal Palace.
For all of his experience, however, Butland was unable to save his side from Champions League elimination at the hands of Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.
“He’s one of the main guys moving forward, 100%, I know this for sure”, Hutton told Football Insider.
“He has experience, leadership qualities, and he’s a big presence within that squad so with the amount of experience that’s left, lots of them on free transfers, it’s not been ideal.
“Keeping ahold of the likes of Jack Butland, you just have to, same with (James) Tavernier, these kinds of guys, and then you can get your new recruits around about them.
“It’s very good news for Rangers moving forward, they’re going to need him throughout the season.
“We know he makes big saves at big moments when called upon so I’m sure the Rangers fans will be over the moon hearing what he said.”
