Former Celtic hero Chris Sutton shares what it’s really like working with Kris Boyd on Sky Sports
Former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton, has just started his second season on Sky Sports covering Scottish football this month.
Formerly of BT Sports, Sutton took on the new role at the broadcasting giant and it put him immediately up against former Rangers striker, Kris Boyd. The Celtic fans have witnessed numerous sparring duels between the punditry pair and whilst much of it is in good humour, the debates, especially on Glasgow Derby days, can get heated.
And whilst the opinions of Boyd do sometimes irk the Celtic fans, Sutton has shared what it’s really like to be working with the outspoken pundit.
Sutton tells of ‘mutual respect’ with Boyd
The former Celtic hero does sometimes look exasperated with some of the opinions Boyd shares on the game but here, he tells how both of them enjoy a healthy working relationship during their broadcasts on Sky Sports.Sutton said [World Football Index], “I really enjoy it. As far as I know—Kris may tell you differently—there is mutual respect between myself and Kris, he was a phenomenal goal scorer and a good player, as was James. I enjoy their company. A lot of what we say comes from our passion for football.
“Kris was the Rangers guy, and I was the Celtic guy, but I do admire Kris. I admire him because he says what he thinks and stands by what he says.
“He does wind people up at times and even annoys me sometimes. But I think he is an excellent pundit, I really do. I enjoy working with him and James, who is often in the middle, rolling his eyes at the pair of us.Football is about opinions, and I love coming up north of the border to commentate on games and be a pundit. I have thoroughly enjoyed sparring with Kris and James.
