Breaking News:Jack Butland reveals Rangers hierarchy talks over club direction as he admits Ibrox concern
Jack Butland admits he has held talks with Rangers’ chiefs surrounding the club’s plans on and off the pitch.
The Light Blues’ start to the new season has been overshadowed with the ongoing development at the Copland Stand at Ibrox that has resulted in Philippe Clement’s men playing their home games at Hampden Park until the work is complete. Rangers kicked off their Premiership campaign with an underwhelming display in a goalless draw with Hearts at Tynecastle but have since bounced back with a credible 1-1 draw away to Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifier and a 2-1 victory against Motherwell at Hampden on Saturday.
Butland’s performances last season saw him linked with a return to the English Premier League, but the 31-year-old insists he is very happy in Govan despite seeking assurances of the club’s direction going forward. Speaking to the media ahead of Tuesday night’s huge return clash with Kyiv, he said: “There is a good relationship and certainly an idea of what we want to be successful and achieve here.
“We have had conversations about what we are doing, where we are going and how far are we are pushing, which for a player at any club, is what you want to know. So for me, there are no cloudy areas on that and I am looking forward to the season and playing as well as I can.
“When you get the opportunity to speak to directors on planes when we travel, you always pick brains and speak to people. That is what this club is all about, we have got to be together.
“I’m not concerned, but it is a concern, so it is good to speak to those people and know where the club is at and where the direction and optimism is, as a player that is certainly things you want to know and be a part of. I hope my opinions are taken and matter as well but it’s a good relationship and I am thoroughly enjoying how things are going.”
