Breaking News:Neil McCann raves over what ‘simply brilliant’ Vaclav Cerny did in Rangers v Motherwell
Vaclav Cerny left Neil McCann purring with a “simply brilliant” moment in Rangers versus Motherwell on Saturday (10 August).
The winger proved the match-winner in the Gers’ clash at their temporary Hampden Park home as Philippe Clement’s side ran out 2-1 victors to earn a first Scottish Premiership win of the campaign.
But it was one pass that almost set Scott Wright up for a goal earlier in the game that really caught the attention of former Gers player McCann on BBC Sportscene (10 August).
“I like him (Cerny), he’s shown today he’s going to be a real handful for defences across the country, really sharp, good feet and when he comes inside, look how well Motherwell are set up here, there’s not a lot of space, Scott Wright’s telling him where he wants it, that is eye of the needle stuff,” he said.
“The execution of that pass is quite simply brilliant.”
Cerny looks a gem for Rangers
Cerny made a telling contribution as the Gers drew 1-1 late on with Dynamo Kiev in their Champions League third-round qualifying first-leg tie in midweek, setting up Cyriel Dessers for a crucial equaliser.
Against Motherwell, it was a fine curling effort that proved the difference as the Gers ran out victors despite again not always being at their free-flowing best.
Cerny has a point to prove having endured injury issues at Wolfsburg and a season-long loan gives him the perfect opportunity to showcase his talents in Glasgow.
Well the 26-year-old certainly did that with a sumptuous pass to Wright, who will probably feel he should have scored having rounded the goalkeeper and seeing his shot blocked on the line.
If there are more performances like this on the cards the Gers supporters are going to be in for a treat from the Chechia wiger. Let’s hope there’s plenty more to come this term.
In other Rangers news, the Gers can now demand more money for one exit-linked ace.
