Rangers have not picked up any new injuries ahead of their clash with Motherwell but Vaclav Cerny may still have to wait for his full debut, according to Philippe Clement.

The Light Blues will be playing their first ‘home’ game of the season on Saturday (10 August) as they welcome Stuart Kettlwell’s side to Hampden Park off the back of a 0-0 draw with Dynamo Kyiv.

While Cerny impressed from the bench in the Champions League qualifier, Clement believes the Czech International still isn’t ready to be thrown immediately into the starting XI at this stage of the campaign.

As quoted via the Rangers X account (9 August) he said: “No knocks or injuries after midweek which is positive.

“I need results and to help players grow, Černý has had 6 training sessions now so people can’t expect him to play 90 minutes for now, we will integrate the new players into our team.”

Is Rangers winger Oscar Cortes still injured?

While the performance against Kyiv was an improvement on the display at Tynecastle, Clement and his team will know that they simply have to up their game against Motherwell to really get their season up and running.

The Gers cannot afford to give Celtic a further advantage in the title race. The Hoops are already and handful of points ahead at the top of the table and the Light Blues know all too well how quickly that gap can be extended.

Clement hasn’t been able to rush his new signings into the fold due to a lack of fitness or time to adapt to the Scottish game but now might be the time to throw them into the starting XI to try and get the domestic campaign going.

Regardless of who starts and where for Rangers, they have to claim all three points in their maiden Hampden Park bow of the year.
