Breaking News:Todd Cantwell exit update as Euro club chief flies to Glasgow to hold Rangers talks

Rangers and Todd Cantwell are set to part ways imminently after transfer talks went to plan with a Trabzonspor director, according to Karadeniz Gazete.

The report by Ismail Duzgun [8 August] claimed that an unnamed senior Trabzonspor official jetted into Scotland to discuss a potential transfer with attacking midfielder Cantwell, with talks said to have gone positively.

Talks were reported to be in place between the two parties, with it now being revealed that the green light has been made from Cantwell’s end on the deal.

The Englishman is on the verge of leaving the Gers having requested an exit, consequently being banished to train with the club’s B team by Philippe Clement.

Rangers expected to complete Cantwell sale soon

The imminent sale of Cantwell looks to be getting closer, which means Rangers can draw a line under the whole saga.

Whilst showing his ability in parts in a blue shirt, Cantwell was never going to be relied upon to be a long-time servant at Ibrox and has ultimately seen his relationship with the manager break down.

Clement, Nils Koppen and John Bennett are currently overseeing a major revamp throughout the squad, and the ship must be steadied whilst the team still search for their first win of the season.

It’s likely that it could arrive this weekend against an injury-hit Motherwell side, in what will be the team’s first home fixture at Hampden Park.

Trabzonspor has been a common ground for outgoing Gers stars, with John Lundstram having featured in their last contest and Borna Barisic also having joined as a free agent.

If Cantwell becomes the third signing for the Super Lig outfit from Clement’s squad, it should benefit all parties in the long run.
