FABRIZIO CONFIRMED:Newcastle United announced the return of former key player few minutes ago

Newcastle United are ploughing ahead with their transfer business as the Premier League season looms large on the horizon.

Today brought the official announcement of the arrival of Will Osula from Sheffield United and while things have been quiet, it’s believed that the deal for Marc Guehi is progressing well.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes has once again pledged his fealty to Newcastle United while talking to the press ahead of the Sela Weekender.

It all looks as though Alexander Isak is also committed to the cause, which just leaves one other huge player whose future is being questioned.

Fabrizio Romano says there has been no bid

Anthony Gordon is still being linked with Liverpool, and although Eddie Howe said this morning that Gordon is of the same mindset as Bruno Guimaraes, the fact that it didn’t come directly from the player himself has left enough room for journalists to keep the Liverpool dream alive.

However, Fabrizio Romano, while not outright denying the possibility, has poured a huge bucket of cold water on the story when talking to Give Me Sport.

“If they drop the price at Newcastle, that could still be a possibility, I think, for Liverpool in the final weeks on the transfer window. But it’s not something that I’m hearing is now really imminent, because there is still no bid to Newcastle. There is still no fresh club to club conversation.

“So we have to see what happens in kind of domino players. But, at the moment, is not something really imminent and we also have to respect Newcastle because they want to keep Anthony Gordon at the club. So,it’s not going to be easy at all, but the appreciation is 100% confirmed.”

The entire story seems media-generated

The chances of Newcastle dropping their asking price for a player they want to keep is so small you’d get better odd for Sunderland winning the Premier League within the next three seasons.

Basically what Romano is saying is that the stories around Gordon and Liverpool are coming from the media and not from either club.

Liverpool like the look of Gordon, of course they do, based on last season he improves every team in the Premier League except may Manchester City, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to actually try and sign him. They will no how unrealistic it is, especially this late in the window.
