BREAKING NEWS; Everton best player has signed a new two-year contract.

Neil Warnock believes Kalvin Phillips would be an “ideal” signing for Everton amid links with a move to Goodison Park.

According to journalist Joe Thomas, the Toffees would sign the midfielder “tomorrow” if Manchester City’s terms changed, with reports suggesting that Sean Dyche’s side can only finance a loan deal [Alex Crook].

The 28-year-old has struggled for game time since departing Leeds United in the summer of 2022, joining West Ham last season in an attempt to maintain his place in the England squad ahead of Euro 2024.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday (8 August, 8:54am), Warnock said: “I think Everton would be great for him, especially with Dyche. Dyche is good with people like that and makes them feel important. He would be ideal for them.”

Could Everton end up signing Kalvin Phillips?

It certainly seems like Dyche and Kevin Thelwell are attempting to find a new midfield option before the summer transfer window closes after Amadou Onana’s move to Aston Villa.

The midfield duo of James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gueye is not enough for the Toffees to make it through the 2024/25 campaign, especially considering the latter’s recent injury record.

Villa’s Tim Iroegbunam has already been acquired to lessen that problem, but with only a total of two Premier League starts in his career, Phillips could add some much-needed experience to the middle of the park.

Given the player’s recent seasons, the former Leeds man would bring a lot of wisdom with him too, and a desire to play football after being left on the bench by Pep Guardiola for far too long.

While a deal does seem difficult right now, Man City may back down as the transfer deadline gets closer, with Guardiola unlikely to want the midfielder floating around the squad without being utilised.
