Football Manager 2024 predicts how Chelsea’s summer transfer window could play out – with some unusual deals set to happen.
It has already been a hectic summer transfer window for Chelsea as new head coach Enzo Maresca gets his feet under the table at Stamford Bridge.
As it stands, the Blues have brought in around £85m from the sales of Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson and Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech’s wages are off the bill after they left the club following the end of their contracts. Far from resting on their laurels, Chelsea have continued to spend after Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu, Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Aston Villa academy product Omari Kellyman and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo all arrived.

There was little change for Marseca in terms of his goalkeeping ranks as Kepa rejected a move back to Spain with Valencia and he will remain at Stamford Bridge to compete for a place with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic. There was one departure as Gabriel Slonina joined MLS outfit Atlanta United in a £3m deal.
First and foremost, it’s probably easier to start with the list of defenders leaving Stamford Bridge. The only cash sale saw academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah joined Serie A giants Juventus in a £20m move but there were loan moves away from the club for the likes of Alfie Gilchrist and Axel Disasi and they prepare to spend the season with Luton Town and Lyon respectively. There was one new face at the back for Maresca and it feels like a significant addition as the Italian won the race to sign Turkish international Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce. A £35m agreement was enough to see off competition from Inter, Real Betis, Newcastle, Spurs, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.
