Jim White amazed at Everton takeover development as Farhad Moshiri question raised

Jim White raised a question regarding Farhad Moshiri after hearing the latest with regards to the takeover situation at Everton.

Speaking on talkSPORT (6 August, 11:07), football finance expert Stefan Borson revealed that things aren’t looking great at Goodison Park after the collapse of the proposed Friedkin takeover.

More specifically, he suggested that there are just a couple of months left to get a takeover done before finances get really messy.

“They are in an okay position for the next eight weeks,” Borson said. “Once we get into the back end of September, October, the pressure will build because they burn cash quickly. They have a big wage bill in terms of turnover and operating losses – that is an issue.”

White, who was pretty animated about what he was being told, had a simple reply.

He said: “How is it that someone like Moshiri can live comfortably trying to service this monthly debt?”

Are Everton in serious financial trouble?

After the Friedkin Group were unable to make a sale work, things have been pretty tense. While performances have been solid enough during pre-season, it’s hard to get too excited.

There’s a constant cloud hanging over what Sean Dyche is trying to do. Yes, he’s making attempts to bring in new signings, but it seems like more departures are expected before that can happen.

You have to question what the starting XI will look like by the opening weekend. There will obviously be a desire to vault away from another possible scrap in the bottom half, but at this point, they’re in no position to do that.

It’s impossible to juggle this amount of responsibility for any club, let alone one that’s been floundering for so many years.

However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. There are still a few interested parties and if Alan Myers is to be believed, we should get some clarity sooner rather than later.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been told to make a Kalvin Phillips transfer decision as he sits in Manchester City “purgatory”.
