Breaking News:Everton bid update emerges on Leeds United star amid new £50m windfall – Report
Leeds United are yet to receive a formal approach from another club for Willy Gnonto, amid speculation of the Italian leaving the club this summer.
Daniel Farke is hoping that not too much will change in his squad as he heads into the 24/25 season in the Championship, aiming to go one better in the promotion race.
However, he will be likely to face significant interest in his two star wingers, including Willy Gnonto off the back of an impressive 2024.
Fabrizio Romano was one of multiple outlets last week that shared of Everton being in the hunt to sign Gnonto from Leeds this month.
Talks were ongoing over the possible terms of a deal to see the Italian head to Goodison Park on a permanent deal.
Gnonto was also said to be keen on the move, having agitated for an exit when the Toffees came calling back in August 2023:
Now, a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post reveals that while Leeds are anticipating renewed interest to materialise from Everton, there has been no formal approach.
Graham Smyth shares that “substantial noise” from Merseyside to indicate a looming bid is yet to bring one at Elland Road:
“Substantial noise at the Everton end suggested that they would come back in for Gnonto this summer but a bid is yet to materialise.
“If Leeds are to consider selling either or both widemen then the earlier the better so that they could bring in their own first-choice replacements in a timely fashion to prepare for the upcoming season.”
Everton’s chances of bankrolling a big-money move for the Leeds man might be boosted now with their midfielder Amadou Onana confirmed as Aston Villa’s latest signing, on a reported £50million deal.
