Breaking News:Nottingham Forest told they can sign 25-goal striker permanently in January …

Nottingham Forest will go in search of a new striker this month as the club looks for more competition for talisman Chris Wood.

Shay Given has handed Wood a new nickname this season with the striker scoring a brilliant 12 goals in the first half of the season.

With Taiwo Awoniyi yet to score this season, however, the Reds would dearly love to add another talisman to the ranks.

Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto is on the radar but that might not be an easy deal to do before the deadline early next month.

There might be another deal on the table in Brazil, however, that could now hand Forest a solution to their January transfer window conundrum.

Forest can sign 25-goal Igor Jesus in January transfer window

According to RTI Esporte, Arsenal have been knocked back in a quest to loan Jesus during the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta wants reinforcements for the injured Bukayo Saka but only wants to loan the Botafogo striker rather than sign him permanently.

The Brazilian champions have no desire to do that though and have rejected the offer from Arsenal almost immediately.

However, the report does offer hope for Forest and claims that the Brazilian outfit will listen to permanent offers to sign Jesus this month.

The striker is valued at around £18 million and that represents pretty good value for money for a striker with so much potential.

During the 2023/24 campaign, the talented 23-year-old scored 25 goals and registered nine assists, with it absolutely no surprise that the player is a wanted man.

Jesus would be quality signing for Forest

This addition could prove to be bad news for Awoniyi with Forest not against letting him go this month.
