BREAKING NEWS:Brendan Rodgers Confirmed the departure of O’Riley few minutes ago
Brendan Rodgers spoke post-match about Celtic’s transfer business over the coming weeks, with supporters hopeful for a number of incomings over the next month.
Having only signed three players so far this summer, Celtic’s transfer business has been slower than some would have hoped.
However, Rodgers agreed that he would have liked to have had more players in by now but stressed that there is more to come before the window closes.
Rodgers said: (Sky Sports Scotland), “Every manager and coach will tell you you want it for the first game of the season, but it’s not there. I think that we see with the core group that we have very, very good players, so hopefully, we can add more tools to that over the window.
“It has to be quality, that is what this club is about. The supporters demand the quality of player. We have a lot of players to grow and develop; we also need guys that can add that little bit of quality and change the game for you. That takes time. We all want it now, so hopefully, over the coming weeks, we can get that in.
“It’s life; it’s the way it is, so we have to deal with that. I understand where supporters come from. They pay money; they wanna see the best team on the pitch.”
The Irishman is stressing patience, and if the Celtic board delivers the right quality by the end of the window, supporters will be delighted.
However, given the current moment in Celtic’s history, it is crucial that the club does not stand still while ahead, and instead strives to be the best possible football team they can be, by signing players who strengthen the starting 11.
Expecting Celtic to have the right quality by now may be unreasonable, but it is reasonable to expect that Celtic will have that quality by the end of the transfer window.
As Europe’s elite complete their business, new players may become available for moves to Paradise by the end of August.
