BREAKING NEWS;Celtic star refuses to sign a new deal and is determined to leave the club

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has revealed that he would not be surprised if Reo Hatate follows Matt O’Riley out of the door at Celtic this summer for a decent fee.

The Hoops are preparing for life without O’Riley and they have lined up Daniel Gazdag, Shea Charles and Tanner Tessmann as potential replacements if their star midfielder leaves in the coming days.

Celtic want top dollar for the Denmark international midfielder and have already rejected three bids from Atalanta, but Boyd believes the 23-year-old is not the only star that could leave the Parkhead club this summer, tipping Hatate to follow suit.

“Matt O’Riley will be sold, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Reo Hatate follows him out the door for a decent wedge,” he wrote in the Scottish Sun.

“That may weaken Celtic, sure, but I still don’t think they would be so weak that Rangers would be able to catch them.

“Brendan Rodgers will no doubt have signing targets in mind to replace them anyway.”

The 26-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership defending champions in December 2021 and has featured in 87 games across all competitions since, weighing in with 16 goals and 19 assists.

Hatate spent some time out of action last term due to injury, and loanee Paulo Bernardo impressed in his absence and has since secured a permanent move to join Celtic.

Losing both the Japan international and O’Riley in a single window does not look good for the Bhoys, but it could happen if the right bids are brought to the negotiation table.

Celtic have only signed goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo so far this summer as fresh additions to the squad, but manager Rodgers will be looking to bring in more quality options, especially if he ends up losing Hatate and O’Riley.
