Ianis Hagi agrees contract to leave Rangers as eight-figure transfer fee eyed at Ibrox

Ianis Hagi agrees contract to leave Rangers as eight-figure transfer fee eyed at Ibrox

Fiorentina want to sign Ianis Hagi and have already agreed personal terms with the Rangers winger, SportpeSure reports.

According to the Romanian outlet’s website on 21 July the 25-year-old would earn around €1million a season if he completes a move to the Italian side [over £16,000-a-week].

But the Light Blues reportedly want a €3.5million fee to agree to a transfer [£2.95m] and it is unclear whether La Viola are prepared to offer that much.

Hagi spent last season on loan at Alaves in La Liga but previously played for Fiorentina, making 21 appearances for the Serie A club between 2016 and 2018.

Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier have agreed Rangers exits

Philippe Clement is increasingly facing a race against time to move players on in order to bring much-needed reinforcements in after admitting publicly that he has to sell to buy [Rangers Review, 13 July].

Captain James Tavernier has now also agreed personal terms on a move to Trabzonspor [Takvim, 19 July] and an improved bid is now on the way for the right-back [Daily Record, 19 July].

So if Hagi has also got a deal in place ahead of a potential transfer exit it could mean the necessary departures are starting to get moving.

Thanks to a serious injury that saw him miss more than a year under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale the Romanian international hasn’t been much of a factor at Ibrox for two and a half seasons.

So selling him now would be hugely beneficial to Clement and Nils Koppen’s attempts to continue their transfer business, although doubt has been cast on the Light Blues ability to get the cash they want for him by Ibrox News pundit Derek Ferguson.

But it may be that the hard part is already done in agreeing personal terms as the Gers could seriously do with something similar for Sam Lammers who has been dropped to the B Team and has no future under Clement.
