Fresh details emerge after long-awaited Celtic announcement

Celtic have finally completed their third signing of the summer, bringing in Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis from Benfica. The club made the official announcement on their website, confirming a five-year deal. The Portuguese midfielder spent the previous on loan at Parkhead and clearly did enough to convince Brendan Rodgers that he had a long-term future to look forward to.

Bernardo had a solid run at Celtic Park last season. He was not a starter when everybody was fit and available but with the Hoops’ injury problems in the middle of the park, the Portuguese youngster ended up getting a decent amount of playing time.

Bernardo has a solid base to build upon, having already settled in Glasgow. Now, he needs to add consistent goals and assists to his game. If he can do that, he will be one of the best midfielders in Scottish football.

Some fresh details have emerged regarding the deal as well. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Celtic managed to negotiate the transfer fee down from around £6 million to £3.5 million plus add-ons.
