REPORT;Evangelos Marinakis has rejected Chris Wood playing for Nottingham Forest again
Nottingham Forest’s European push has come as a surprise to most football fans, with a lot of the credit going to star striker Chris Wood.
Wood has scored ten Premier League goals this season, including what turned out to be the winner in Forest’s victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The goal clearly meant a lot to the striker, as Wood picked the Manchester United win as Forest’s best moment so far this season.
Even Jermaine Defoe praised Wood for his performances thus far in the Premier League, highlighting that his efforts are not going unnoticed at the City Ground.
However, it was not long ago that Nuno Espirito Santo and Forest were looking to sign Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez, with the latest update on the Feyenoord hitman potentially reigniting the potential signing.
Santiago Gimenez’s dad provides update on the striker’s future
Speaking to the Mexican outlet, Record, Gimenez’s father has reiterated that the plan is still for his son to leave Dutch football in the near future.
He said: “The market is going to move a little, I hope it can happen, if not, Santi is very happy at Feyenoord, but yes, the idea is that can get out.
“Because of how he came back after his injury, he activated the market again.”
Whether Evangelos Marinakis and Forest are one of the clubs to be “activated” by Gimenez’s return to fitness remains to be seen, but his father was keen to emphasise that teams are making their move for the striker.
He continued: “I think there was already follow-up from some teams on Santiago, but I don’t really know if he is going to come, but there is follow-up. Santi has already spent two and a half years at the club, the club is open to listening if there is an offer, but hey, we have to be calm.”
Gimenez would still improve the Forest squad if the club were to go back in for him, but such a move may impact Wood’s desire for a new Forest contract.
