New Warriors Guard Makes Personal Steph Curry Admission After Midseason Trade
After joining the Golden State Warriors in a midseason trade from the Brooklyn Nets, Dennis Schroder wasted no time sharing his excitement about playing alongside one of the NBA’s greatest-Steph Curry. During his introductory press conference at Chase Center, Schroder emphasized his role as a two-way player who can ease the burden on Warriors stars, particularly on defense. “I can’t wait to get started,” he said. “Playing alongside guys like Steph and Draymond is an incredible opportunity.” Dennis Schroder said his six-year-old son was super excited after they got the trade news because he’s a big Steph Curry fan.
The veteran guard, who has played for eight NBA teams in his 12-season career, also shared a heartwarming story about his son’s excitement following the family’s move to the Bay Area. Schroder revealed that his 5-year-old son, Dennis Jr., is a devoted Steph Curry fan and wasted no time celebrating the opportunity to meet his idol. “When I told him we were heading to Golden State, he was ecstatic,” Schroder said during his introductory press conference at Chase Center. “His first reaction was, ‘We’re lucky, at least it’s a good team.’ It was hilarious and even lifted my mood after the trade shock.” Schroder added that his son’s admiration for Curry is so intense that he asks about Curry before even greeting his father.
Schroder’s Golden State debut is set for Thursday against the Memphis Grizzlies, where he will wear jersey No. 71 as a tribute to his late father. As he prepares for his first Warriors game, Schroder will look to bring his experience, defensive grit and a new dynamic to Golden State’s backcourt, giving fans and his young son even more reason to cheer.
