Good news: Leicester city confirm the return of former key player Ademola Lookman…

Ex Leicester player Ademola Lookman has been crowned the 2024 African Footballer of the Year at the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Awards in Marrakesh.

The Atalanta forward saw off competition from Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.

Lookman is the second consecutive Nigerian to claim the award after Victor Osimhen in 2023.

Ademola (27) came to Leicester on loan for the 2021-22 season, completing 26 league games and scoring 6 goals. The club had an option to buy, but it was according to club sources not funds available to bring in the Nigerian international.

Instead a move to Atalanta happened and the former England U.21 international has not looked back since joining the Serie A club, who also is a force in Europe. So far 22 goals in 75 Serie A games. He has also established himself in the Nigeria national team, playing alongside a number of current and former Leicester players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Calvin Bassey.

Nigerian fans love their favourite, and he is so well liked in the country he started to play for back in 2022. So far he has completed 27 games and scored 8 goals.

Still a player close to his prime, time will see if we will see him back in Premier League. He was one player that made an impact and a good impression during his season loan spell at Leicester
