Rangers to swap Castore for Umbro opening door to wealth of retro hits

Rangers to swap Castore for Umbro opening door to wealth of retro hits

Rangers are reportedly on the cusp of ditching kit manufacturer Castore for Umbro, according to prolific football kit leak site Footy Headlines.

The Ibrox club’s current contract with Castore is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, however neither the club nor the brand has mentioned an extension beyond the conclusion of the 2024/25 trail.

Umbro first looked after Rangers’ kits from the mid-1960s through to the early 90s, before again assuming control of the club’s kit design between 2005 and 2013.

During the latter stretch, the English sports brand represented Walter Smith’s side as they reached the UEFA Cup Final of 2008. Assuming the latest rumours are true, this could open the door to a suite of official retro throwback kits from generations past.

“Our exclusive source has revealed that Umbro will replace Castore as Rangers’ kit supplier from the 25-26 season,” said Footy Headlines. “Castore’s current deal with Glasgow Rangers begins at the start of the 20-21 season and runs for five years, which means it will expire at the end of the 24-25 season.

“Rangers have no intention of renewing the deal and will choose Umbro as their kit maker for the next period.

If Umbro indeed takes over Rangers’ kits from next season onwards, how do you feel about the above?

And, thinking of retro designs, which old school kits would you like to see re-released today?
