Rangers reject £4.5m MLS bid for Dessers

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have rejected multiple bids for Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers, including a £4.5m offer from Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Ibrox club, who signed Dessers for £6m, including £1.5m in add-ons that have already been paid, are not interested in selling their in-form striker for less than their initial investment.

Dessers has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals in five appearances, establishing himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Scotland, second only to Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement would only consider offers significantly above their £6m investment, with the club reportedly expecting bids in excess of £8m for the Belgian-born Nigerian international.

The situation is complicated by Rangers’ lack of striking options, with Hamza Igamane and Danilo yet to prove themselves as reliable alternatives to Dessers.

Despite facing criticism early in his Rangers career, with some fans labelling him a ‘donkey’, Dessers has become an integral part of Clement’s team, making him virtually indispensable to the Glasgow side’s current campaign.

With Dessers established as Rangers’ primary striker and showing consistent form, the club’s decision to reject Atlanta United’s bid suggests they are determined to retain his services unless a substantially higher offer is received.
