Breaking News:Rangers can cash in on Rabbi Matondo after new developments at Ibrox…
Rabbi Matondo being back in Rangers training gives Philippe Clement the perfect chance to cash in on the winger in the January transfer window.
Clement confirmed in his latest press conference (via X, 11 December), that Matondo is back in training but not fit enough to face Tottenham in the Europa League clash at Ibrox on Thursday.
With Matondo on the verge of returning to matchday squads, the Welsh international faces a battle with Hamza Igamane, Nedim Bajrami, Jefte and Ianis Hagi if he’s to reclaim his berth on the left wing.
As a result, and given that Matondo was hardly pulling up any trees before picking up a hamstring injury against Celtic in September, January could give Clement an opportunity to cash in.
Rabbi Matondo to seal Rangers exit
Matondo has certainly shown he’s capable of producing brilliant moments in his time at Ibrox, namely his last-gasp equaliser at Ibrox in a 3-3 Old Firm draw towards the back end of Clement’s first season.
However, with the League Cup Final coming up against the same opponents, Celtic, on 15 December, it’s unlikely that Clement would look to Matondo to produce a game-saving contribution in the final third.

In his time on the sidelines, a three-month period which has seen the Gers sputter along domestically before an uptick in recent weeks, Matondo has fallen well down the pecking order on the left flank.
It’s arguable that Igamane, Bajrami, Hagi and Jefte in particular are all better in different positions, but few Bears fans would prefer to see Matondo named ahead of them in a starting XI at the moment.

With Matondo seen by some supporters as one of several players wasting a hefty pay packet at Ibrox, a January exit could be just what the club needs to re-invest that money on reinforcements elsewhere.
