Leicester City has terminated Odsonne Edouard’s loan deal in the January transfer window
Leicester City are likely to cut ties with a Steve Cooper signing in the January transfer window. However, the decision will benefit the Foxes more in the long run.
Steve Cooper left Leicester City after only managing 12 Premier League games. Now, Ruud van Nistelrooy is in charge and he’s already planning for the January transfer window.
Taking some time to learn about his new team, the former Dutch striker will be eager to steer Leicester back on the straight and narrow. To implement his plan, he might need to dabble in the January transfer window.
Since there is a new manager at the helm, the Foxes must brace for not only new signings, but also players to leave the club. For van Nistelrooy, there is no better place to start than one player.
Leicester will cut ties with Steve Cooper signing in January transfer window
According to a report from Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Leicester City are contemplating the termination of Odsonne Edouard’s loan deal in the January transfer window. He is currently on loan from Crystal Palace but could return earlier than expected in the new year.
The report hints that offloading Edouard would allow Leicester City to sign another Premier League player on loan. This is believed to be the driving force behind the Foxes’ decision.
Edouard has played only four Premier League matches for Leicester. He has yet to make his first league start but judging by this news, he won’t make one before returning to Crystal Palace.
Edouard was understandably signed with plenty of promise. However, it goes to show that fans should never judge a book by its cover – Jordan Ayew, whose signing was met with criticism, has outperformed Edouard by quite a remarkable distance.
