BREAKING NEWS:Sean Dyche signs his resignation letter few minutes ago
Bryan King isn’t sure that the FA would want the “controversy” that could follow by appointing Everton manager Sean Dyche as England boss.
The ex-Goodison scout claims the 53-year-old would take on the role if it was offered to him.
It follows Gareth Southgate’s decision to resign as England boss following the conclusion of the 2024 UEFA European Championship (via BBC Sport, 16 July).
But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – isn’t sure that the FA would look to Dyche.
“He is an Englishman, and he has achieved as much as what Southgate had achieved,” King said.
“However, I am not sure if Dyche is an FA man. I think he’d be too strong for them. He’s not a gentleman who hides behind anything if he has got something to say.
“I’m not sure that England would want the controversy that could come with that. However, I’m sure he would be proud to do the job and would certainly accept it if offered.”
Everton boss Sean Dyche would quit Goodison Park to manage England
If Dyche were to be offered the England job and accept it, supporters at Goodison Park would be wrong to begrudge him.
The ex-Burnley manager has given his all to the Toffees since arriving on Merseyside, and he has kept them in the Premier League under very difficult circumstances.
Therefore, if a job as prestigious as managing his country were to present itself, Dyche would be deserving of the opportunity to take it on.
He has more than paid his dues in football and the chance to manage England doesn’t come up every day.
