Breaking News:Leeds United to price Joe Gelhardt out of permanent exit, loan mooted…
Dan Bardell believes Leeds United will be forced to loan Joe Gelhardt as interested clubs can’t afford a transfer fee.
The 22-year-old looks set to make a temporary exit from Elland Road in the January window with Rangers interested in his signature [TEAMtalk].
The Whites would prefer the forward to join a club in England with the Gers having a preference for a loan with an option to buy in the summer.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can only see the Englishman leaving on loan given the finances of the clubs who have shown an interest.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “I think the problem is that the level of club that Gelhardt would be moving to, those clubs aren’t going to have the finances to pay for a permanent move.
“If he’s going to go it’s a loan or nothing because clubs at that level aren’t going to be able to afford a transfer fee.
“It’s not going to do Leeds any good to lose him for a low fee so I think if he does go it will be a loan.“

The ex-Wigan youngster has struggled for regular minutes under Daniel Farke, last making a first-team appearance in an 8-minute cameo in early October.
With the quality available to the Whites up front, the German is always going to favour the likes of Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph as his side goes in search of promotion this season.

This could point towards a winter move being likely and a loan move seems to be the best option for all parties moving forward.
