Confirmed: Aston Villa announce new contract for defender…
Aston Villa have announced Sil Swinkels has signed a new contract with the club.
The 20-year-old defender made his professional debut Villa in the FA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool in 2021. He then featured under Unai Emery for the first time earlier this season, starting in the 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.
Swinkels has also been included in several matchday squad this term, including in three of the club’s first five Champions League matches. His new deal comes just six months after he last penned fresh terms before the end of last season.

“We are delighted to see Sil sign his new contract,” said academy manager Mark Harrison. “This is a great reflection of not only his development over the last six months but also the consistent high standards he sets himself.
“Sil is a very good role model for our younger academy players and we were all delighted to see him make his first-team debut. We look forward to seeing how he continues to develop.”
Swinkels is the latest youngster to sign a new deal with the club after Triston Rowe, Jamal Jimoh-Aloba, Kadan Young, Lamare Bogarde and Travis Patterson have all committed their future in recent months.
