Deal confirmed: Nottingham Forest confident of agreeing Ola Aina deal – sources…

Nottingham Forest are confident of agreeing a new contract with defender Ola Aina, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

He is in talks over a renewed deal at the City Ground and club chiefs feel there is a good chance of securing his future.

Aina has become a key man for Forest since his arrival at the club last year (2023) on an initial one-year deal, which was extended by a further 12 months earlier this year.

He has seen off a host of competition in the right-back role to become the undisputed first-choice in the position.

The 40-cap Nigeria international can also play at left-back and started the first three games of this season in the role prior to Alex Moreno’s signing.

Aina has started all 12 Premier League games so far this term and has only failed to play the full 90 minutes on two occasions.

The ex-Chelsea ace has also chipped in with one goal which game in the 3-0 win over West Ham earlier this month.

As things stand, he can talk to foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement in January.

Aina is no stranger to playing abroad after his five-year stint with Torino in Serie A, where he played 113 times.

Nottingham Forest are flying high under Nuno Espirito Santo this term and sit seventh in the table after 12 games.

The Midlands club have already picked up 19 points and are 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

In other news, Forest told by fans to “accept £50million bid” for star man.
