Breaking News:‘Leeds have made an audacious bid’ for ‘£30m’ Man City sensation – Insider
Leeds United have made an “audacious bid” to sign Man City talent James McAtee amid growing speculation about his future at the club.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains very well-connected at the club, revealed that Leeds are among a number of clubs vying for his signature.
However, Pep Guardiola is keen to keep the 22-year-old as part of his squad due to the injury crisis his side have suffered this season.
Clubs are thought to be lining up potential loan and permanent moves for the attacking midfielder, although Robinson has warned a deal could be worth as much as £30million.
After two consecutive loan spells with Sheffield United, one in the Championship and one in the Premier League, Leeds have now identified McAtee as a potential target.
Daniel Farke’s side are desperate to gain promotion to the Premier League at the second time of asking and will look to strengthen their push via the transfer m
arket.
However, the likes of West Ham and Fulham are prepared to enter the race for his signature and City will likely be forced to make a decision in January.
Leeds United make shock move to sign Man City star James McAtee
McAtee has featured just six times for City so far this season, with just one of those coming in the Premier League – a one-minute cameo appearance against Ipswich.
However, Robinson, who made over 100 appearances for the Elland Road club and has retained his close connections there, has backed the midfielder to make his mark on the first-team at City given their ongoing injury crisis, despite Leeds’ offer.
“Leeds have made an audacious bid for him,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s had two really good loans at Sheffield United, West Ham have been in the mix and he’s been linked with Fulham, but it’s not just going to be them.
“And what would they be getting for him in January? £20-25million? £30million?
“There are a lot of clubs that would take James McAtee, whether it be on a permanent or loan deal.
“But I think Pep Guardiola might be selfish between now and the end of the season and keep him.

“He wants him to be a part of his squad and I think they’re going to need him.
“The amount of injuries this season, you’d have thought he would already have broken into that first-team with the talent he has.“
