Aston Villa have ‘set their sights’ on young centre back Joel Ordonez according to a report.

Website TBR Football claim both Villa and Newcastle United are keen on the 20-year-old who is currently playing for Club Brugge. Indeed the Ecuador international recently played against Villa for the Belgian outfit in the 1-0 Champions League victory over Unai Emery’s men.

He made 36 appearances in all competitions last season but was in and out of the starting line-up but this term has been a far more regular starter. Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Wolves are also said to be interested.

As things stand Villa are well-stocked in central defence, with Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa as first choices, Tyrone Mings fit again and Diego Carlos also available – despite suggestions he might leave Villa Park.
