Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, however, believes these reports could be driven by the player’s agent, potentially using media speculation to generate interest or leverage.
Dragusin joined Tottenham in January for a transfer fee of €25 million, becoming the most expensive Romanian footballer.
Despite the initial excitement surrounding his arrival, he has struggled to secure consistent playing time and deliver standout performances, raising questions about his long-term prospects at the club.
Paul Robinson blames Radu Dragusin’s agent amid links of a move away
Robinson, speaking to Tottenham News, suggested that agents often utilise media channels to spark transfer stories, which can quickly gain momentum and amplify in the press.
He noted that it takes little to ignite such speculation, which can then spread across various outlets, lending confidence to potential moves.
However, Robinson expressed doubt that Spurs would consider letting Dragusin go in the January window, either on a permanent basis or as a loan.
He highlighted that the Lilywhites see potential
Robinson said:
“Agents do that, players do that. They can get noises out there via various means, and now with the number of media outlets, it only takes one story for you to plant an acorn and soon you’ve got an oak tree.
“I don’t think Tottenham do any deals for Dragusin in January, loan or permanent. He’s only just signed and Spurs fans haven’t seen the best of him yet. He will get a run of games with Romero and van de Ven’s injury and disciplinary records.
“He’ll be frustrated with the lack of game time but there is no way that Spurs will let him go in January.”
With established centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven dealing with injuries and potential suspensions this season, Dragusin may find more opportunities to step up as manager Ange Postecoglou navigates a demanding schedule.
While he has only made three Premier League starts, Dragusin has been involved in Europa League and Carabao Cup matches, indicating that Postecoglou views him as a valuable asset in development. (Transfermarkt)
Despite limited minutes and the competition for spots, Spurs’ commitment to nurturing Dragusin suggests they see him as part of their future plans.
This focus on long-term integration makes a mid-season departure unlikely as the club looks to leverage his potential amid a challenging season.
