Breaking News:Rangers want Ryan Barnett transfer after he made headlines for Wrexham

Rangers are keeping an eye on Wrexham star Ryan Barnett ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Rangers News.

It is reported [13 November] that the Light Blues are assessing their options going into January but that the Welsh club can trigger an extension in the contract of the “crucial” wing-back.

Barnett made headlines when he found the back of the net for the Red Dragons in their 1-0 win over Mansfield in League One on 9 November.

Apart from the Bears, Stoke City and Preston North End are also interested in the Englishman.

Rangers could replace James Tavernier with Ryan Barnett

Barnett has been at Wrexham for a few years and has developed into a brilliant player for the Red Dragons, who are looking for their third straight promotion.

The 25-year-old has transitioned into a quality right-back after playing most of his football in the midfield before moving to the Welsh outfit.

Barnett has started in all but one league fixture for Wrexham this season as they sit third in the League One table, having kept eight clean sheets.

James Tavernier has struggled at Rangers this season, and there have been suggestions that the captain should leave in the coming months.

Philippe Clement has relied on the defender despite his poor displays, but Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo have shown they’re more than capable of starting games for the Bears.

While the Light Blues can make Kasanwirjo’s loan move permanent, it remains to be seen what they will do, and if the Dutchman’s services aren’t retained, Barnett looks like a decent option.

In other Rangers news, the Northern Ireland boss has confirmed news regarding Ross McCausland.
