In fact, Lopetegui’s future at West Ham is under threat and if his side suffer defeat to Everton this weekend, he could be given his marching orders.

If that does transpire, club chiefs have already gathered a list of candidates to replace the former Real Madrid boss.

And one of them is a very familiar face in the Premier League.

West Ham now considering Maurizio Sarri

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, West Ham are now considering former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to replace the under-fire Lopetegui.

Sarri has been out of work since March after handing in his resignation at Lazio following a poor run of form.

The Italian head coach is keen to return to management before the new year – providing the right project presents itself.

So, should West Ham approach Sarri, it should be a fairly straightforward deal to do for both parties.

The 65-year-old won the Europa League with Chelsea and has been labelled a ‘genius’ by GOAL.

West Ham also looking at Edin Terzic

West Ham are also looking at former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic – who guided the club to the Champions League final last season.

Terzic left the German club during the summer and has been linked with a number of top jobs, including Manchester United.

So his potential appointment would represent a real coup for The Hammers, who currently languish in 14th place.

A telling week lies ahead at the London Stadium.
