Shocking News: Brendan Rodgers confirm the suspension of Nicolas Kuhn just now…

Celtic put on a brilliant showing following their win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night at Parkhead.

It was a lively game in Glasgow, with the German club opening the scoring from a corner, but Celtic hit straight back through a stunning Nicolas Kuhn effort.

That’s when the champions of Scotland turned up the heat because that aggressive press from the front resulted in the second goal.

Once again, Kuhn was the man of the moment for Celtic after he finished from close range and the home side went into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Celtic didn’t stop there because Reo Hatate got his reward for his performance when the opposition goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi spilt a low cross and it was bundled home by the Japanese star.

Before the game, Leipzig had lost all three of their European matches, this is despite being in Pot 1 when the draw for the revamped Champions League format was made.

Added to that, the Bhoys had four points to their name and were reasonably happy with their early efforts in this competition, but now are outside of those top-eight places.

Reo Hatate dubbed ‘world-class’ during Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig

When Celtic conceded seven against Borussia Dortmund, the mood around the place was pretty low and confidence was out of the window.

On that day, the players fought fire with fire and, in the end, it was a nightmare performance and a game to forget.

But that same intensity with which Celtic play was showcased against RB Leipzig and the opposition simply couldn’t live with it, this time around.

Hatate epitomised it by winning the ball back high up the pitch for Celtic’s second goal and Pat Nevin labelled the midfielder as ‘world-class’ for that moment, as he told BBC Sportsound.

“Hatate’s intelligence, by the way down there,” said Nevin. “If you want to know how you do closing down high up the park, then just get a video of that.

“You don’t do it any better than that. That was world-class closing down high up the field.”

Hatate’s stats for Celtic v RB Leipzig in the Champions League

This week, Hatate opened up about his struggles in Scotland when he first arrived and how he is growing as a player, both on and off the pitch.

The 26-year-old has been one of the best signings of the modern era for Celtic and Rodgers has Ange Postecoglou to thank for that.

WhoScored rated Hatate’s performance against RB Leipzig at 7.81 and it was very much deserved.
