BREAKING NEWS:Brendan Rodgers has decided to quit his job and never return again due to….
It has been reported that several EPL clubs have inquired about Nicolas Kuhn on the back of his blistering start to the season.
After a slow start to his Celtic career caused by a dramatic weight loss following dental surgery the winger showed in flashes in the final few months of last season that he had something to offer but finished the season as back up to James Forrest on the right.
Since Celtic’s pre-season trip to the USA where he scored against Manchester City and Chelsea Kuhn has been Celtic’s stand out performer.
As well as shining domestically Kuhn was in devastating form as Celtic demolished Slovan Bratislava 5-1 in the Champions League then put on a highly disciplined display in the 0-0 draw away to Atalanta.
Impressing in the Champions League is what gets SPFL players noticed and attracting big money offers with Matt O’Riley the most recent example of players accelerating their development at Celtic.
With a long term contract Celtic will be in the driving seat in any transfer negotiations, having raised the bar to £28m with the sale of O’Riley offers of £8.5m won’t be getting anyone excited.
Plettenberg is a German based transfer specialist, with 390,000 followers on Twitter he must have uncovered more than a few big deals.
Losing top performers is always painful but after breaking the club’s transfer record to sign Arne Engels it seems that Brendan Rodgers has imposed a new transfer model with an emphasis on quality whatever the price rather than spending £2-3m on a couple of players and hoping one of them works out.
While Kuhn has been a clear success Marco Tilio, Yang Hynu-jun and Luis Palma are also on long term contracts while getting very limited playing time.
