Aston Villa were heavily beaten 4-1 by Tottenham in the capital this afternoon, but Unai Emery said he wasn’t worried about the manner of the defeat.

Morgan Rogers scored the opening goal of the game in the 32nd minute, finishing from close range after Tottenham failed to deal with Lucas Digne’s corner. But Spurs came out for the second half a totally different side and equalised through Brennan Johnson shortly after the restart.

Dominic Solanke scored a brace inside four minutes later in the half, before James Maddison came off the bench and scored a free-kick in the sixth minute of added time.

“I am not really worried about it because it could happen because of how the match was going and after [scoring] they were in the best position to play feeling comfortable,” Emery said.

“It was a difficult moment for us. We had to try and do something. Even at 2-1, I was trying to plan something different, but it was very tight.

After the [injury] problem with Matty Cash and the kick Morgan Rodgers had … those players were very consistent in the level we needed. After those necessary changes, the team was different.

“We have to try to get different options with the players, even tactically like with two strikers. We have to continue in our way in different practice we are doing because we will need to get different tactical situations sometimes, and of course, getting the best out of the players.
